Members' Interests is a database of surnames and locations which our members are researching. New and amended interests are published in our quarterly journal and these web pages are updated regularly.

1901 Census, Nuneaton Area
More than 26,000 entries transcribed from the 1901 census for Nuneaton and the immediate surrounding area in a searchable format.

Index: War Memorials, Gravestone Inscriptions and Rolls of Honour, Located in Northern Warwickshire

A transcription project was begun in 2008 to collate the names of all those who were involved in WW1 and WW2, and whose names appear on the various War Memorials within northern Warwickshire.  Some of the memorials are not in the best condition, but we have done our best to transcribe them faithfully.

Work has continued on this project and to date we believe we have found and transcribed the extant memorials from within and without the churches in the NNWFHS area. We have included all dedications, regardless of the conflict. These transcriptions and photographs of the memorials are available to all [click here] and an expanded version of these with life stories of some of the fallen, service records and locations are war graves are, or will be soon, available on the Members’ Pages [click here] of the website.

However, with the coming of the anniversary of World War I, we believe there is likely to be more interest in this area, and members of the public are keen to identify members of their family; we have therefore included a searchable database on the public section of the website which will help to identify family members.  Photographs of most of the churches in the area are also available on the public section in the Photos & Pictures Gallery

The database contains ALL entries we have found; some individuals feature on more than one memorial, and in places it is impossible to determine the war in which they were involved. Where possible we have indicated the conflict, which range from the Boer Wars to Afghanistan [2008]. It should be noted that on some of the memorials, all those who served are included, not only those who were killed or died from their injuries shortly after the war.  In addition, we have included those identified by CWGC gravestones, and also inscriptions found on family gravestones, some of whom do not feature on the CWGC site.  We would be pleased to receive any corrections for errors of transcription or omission.

Index to Lichfield Marriage Bonds 1739 - 1754
This index (in pdf format) has been produced by one of our members who is part of the team of volunteers who help Lichfield Record Office prepare indexes for uploading onto the Staffordshire Name Indexes website.  It includes bonds that cover Derbyshire, Staffordshire, parts of Shropshire and a large part of Warwickshire, including all the north of the old county (be aware that Tamworth is now Staffordshire but originally included an appreciable area of Warwickshire). Marriage bonds are an under used resource but can prove invaluable. Click here to read more (log on first).  An additional, searchable index, is now available to facilitate identification of the year in which a marriage bond was issued to a named individual.
